A little earlier this week, we learned that Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron has been completely removed from Disney's release date calendar. The movie was originally announced at the end of 2020, but it soon became clear that issues behind the scenes had seemingly led to the Wonder Woman filmmaker parting ways with Lucasfilm.
We're guessing it was down to good old-fashioned "creative differences," a genuine shocker when the movie was billed as a passion project for Jenkins. Something clearly went wrong and it marks an embarrassing misstep for the studio yet again.
Things may be starting to look up, though; according to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm now has two untitled Star Wars movies set for release on December 19, 2025 and December 17, 2027. Clearly, they're looking to go back to the December slot that served the sequels and Rogue One so well (Solo, on the other hand, debuted to disappointing results in May 2018).
